Day Thirteen!

So, this fine day I am going to show you a picture of my day! :D Ta da! Won't that be fine? Hahaha, I'm liking the word fine at the moment...

Hola!!

Today I finished Spanish! I do not exactly like Spanish. It is just so... foreign! And have you ever noticed that it's called Span-ISH. Ish is one of those suffixes that kind of make a word go from serious to un-serious.  Do you see what I'm saying? Haha. Okay, honestly, I think Spanish is cool, but I have to come up with reasons to be against it since I'm not great at it ;) Actually... I'm not all that bad at it. I just don't like it. I'm lame, I know.

All my day was spent doing Spanish. I really wanted to finish for the year and not do Spanish during my summer, so from noon to 11 PM, my life was Espanol!

Oh, and yes, I know this looks like I'm posting a day late... and technically I am... but I did write 80% of this yesterday! But then I got tired and decided not to kill my brain.

Day Twelve!

Today is a picture of my very favorite book.

Haha, I used to be a huge reader, but these days I'm more... not. But, I still enjoy books when I take the time to read.

 My very favorite book is probably Monster, by Frank Peretti. It. Is. Sosososososo. Good. End of story. :)

This book will scare you. This is why I loved it. ;) And it had a bit of romance... not the mushy kind, but real down to earth love for people. You should totally read it!

Day Eleven!

Why hello!

Let me tell you something. When I typed the word "eleven" it made me think of elves. Then elves made me think of Lord of the Rings. Then that made me think about Arwen, which made me think about being pale. This is very beside the point. I just though you might like to know some of my thoughts. ;)

Today is something that I wish I was better at, and this is a vveeerrrryyyy easy call for me!

I wish I were a better pianist. I love playing the piano sosososososo much! :) But, I really could be a lot better.

So, if you meet a magical fairy that can make me be an awesome pianist, please send her my way... ;) Or you could just pray that I will practice a lot and get really good! Haha :)

Day Ten! (and a day late...)

Yes. It finally happened. My forgetfulness got the better of me, and I managed to forget to make a post yesterday. So, to make up for that I'm going to make two posts today. Yay! Hahah :)

And I'm partly Irish. So, I'd love to go to Ireland and see some green-ness and chase down a leprechaun or two ;) Maybe I'll find a four leaf clover too? I love those. :)

Day Nine!

Today is a picture of someone who inspires me. Haha, I'm easily inspired. Like, you have no clue. Really weird things inspire me...

But, as for a person who inspires me, I think I would have to choose a beautiful, joyful six-year-old girl, Natalie. :)

Natalie is pretty much the happiest person I know. She wakes up singing and some of the things she says are just so sweet and silly and loving. Besides being an amazing little girl altogether, there is another reason she inspires me.

When she was two, she was diagnosed with retinoblastoma. It's pretty much a super rare eye cancer that children can get. After all the hospital visits, praying, and finally surgery, she was free of cancer. However, she only had one eye.

That's not exactly typical for someone her age.

But has she let that stop her? No way. :D She can hit a mad base ball even though according to the doctors she should have bad depth perception, and she can do some awesome tricks with her one fake eye. No joke. In fact, she's proud of the way she is. And I really admire that. She lives life as if she had never gone through cancer at all. I can't help but wonder if I would have handled things as well as she has. Would I have had a pity party? Or would I have been strong, like Natalie?

Oh, and did I mention that this awesome little girl is my sister?

Day Eight!

Woah, so here we are at day eight, and I've actually remembered to make a post for each day. Quite an accomplishment. ;)

Today's picture topic is...

Something I want to do before I die.

Haha, there are sooooo many things I would like to do. Some of them are crazy, and some are more practical. However, there is really one really special thing that I would like to do before I die... and don't get all excited, becaue it's not something super daring or crazy. ;)

This is it.

I would like to ride through the country side in a convertible on a glorious sunny day and wear a scarf and maybe huge sunglasses (you know, kind of old fashioned-y).

I think that would just be so perfect! And also stop somewhere along the way and have a picnic in a sunny meadow with lots of wild flowers, then watch the clouds. Yes. This would be the most perfect day ever. :)

I don't wanna wear my scarf like that though... haha :)

Now, the trick will be doing this before I die.

Day Seven!

Okay, today is something that I could not possibly begin to imagine my life without. There are several things that I couldn't imagine life with out... my family (this is a HUGE one!), my friends, my music, my school (not that I always like it, but I can't imagine life without it... just cause it's constantly in my life, haha). However, there is one thing that really reeeeally stands out that I can't possibly imagine what my life would be like without, not to mention my personality and my whole self in general.

This is...

Jesus Christ, my Savior. :)

Seriously. I can't begin to explain, or even IMAGINE how my life would be without Him. I mean, every day is so entwined in my faith. Without God in my life, I would be SUCH a different person. And, I can assure you, that person would be awful. Beyond awful, probably. No, defiantly way beyond awful.

So... maybe you're wondering how I'm going to show you a picture of God. After all, I've never actually seen his face, much less taken His picture. ;) My solution? Ummm... a picture of the first love letter I ever received. :)

Haha, don't freak out. Really.

In case you didn't know, the Bible is pretty much the most AWESOME love letter in history. And it's written right to me (and you too!), straight from God. Pretty fantastic, huh? :D

So, here you have it.

I could not imagine my life without Christ.

Day Six!

This, people, is the day I've been waiting for. Maybe the reason I agreed to to this challenge is because I get to focus a whole post on something that I absolutely adore. Or maybe I really did want to do it. I won't tell ;)

Anyways...

Music. :D If you know me, you know I love music. I'm always singing, listening to music, thinking about a song, or playing the piano. And I nearly ALWAYS have a song stuck in my head.

But this post is not for just any music, but my very favorite music by my very favorite artist. Hehe. Just thinking about this makes me happy.

I'll give you a hint who it is...

He fell off his skate board anddddd ended up in the hospital. Okay, that probably happens to lots of crazy guys. Also... HE HAS A NEW SINGLE COMING OUT ON JUNE 8!!! YAAAAYYYY! :D Somehow, I've already heard the song on the radio. Don't ask me how, but I KNOW I heard it. Like, three times! But google says it hasn't been released. And it's not on YouTube either. So. I'm not sure what's up :P Ohh, and I'm listening to him sing right now. :)) I'm sure that helps you lots. Seeing as I'm sure you are sitting here with me. Not. xD

Well, now that I've been giving you useless facts about my favorite musician I suppose I'll let you in on who he is ;)

Si. My favorite musician is Chris August. You know how I got hooked? I don't quite remember, actually... But I think I stumbled upon him on YouTube one day. I think his song "Battle (Part III)" was the first time his amazing-ness filled my ears. Haha. Then I eventually bought his album "No Far Away" and for like a month, out of the 100-ish songs on my iPod at the time, I pretty much ONLY listened to the 10 songs from that album. xD I love his music because it actually has a meaning to me. He sings about things I can relate to, plus since he's a Christian he sings it from the view as I have, which is simply amazing. :)) Added to all of this, he's SO funny. No joke. You might not find him funny, but his sense of humor is a lot like mine apparently. So. This is my favorite musician. End of story.

Buuuuut, even though this is a picture challenge, I just CANNOT end this post with out giving you a sample of his music. That would just be lame. ;)

Day Five!

Hmmm. Today is going to be hard because I have to do a picture of something I really like. I guess since it's someTHING I can't do a picture of a person. That narrows it down a little. Now I can only do pictures of nature, electronics, music, food, art, movies, planets, animals... Oooohhh, this is still a hard choice.

However.

I like food. Food is good. ;) So, I'll do food.

Day Four!

Today I need a picture of something I dislike.
So, I could post pictures of some foods like cabbage. Or I could post a picture of a song that I can't stand, but I decided to do something else... that maybe no one would think of. Sorta.

Anyways, I'm kinda rambling today...

The thing I dislike is...

This booooooooook. Oh my. It was sooooooo groooooossssssss... and disgusting and sad and I simply did not like it. Don't read it if you are a fan of happiness. Haha, if you know me in person I'm one of those happily-ever-after endings, sunshine, and joy kind of people (mostly!), but this book was pretty much the opposite. It was so depressing!

Yep, so that's something I really dislike. This book and un-happily-ever-after endings.

15 Day Challenge!

So... my sister and my friend Lauren have talked me into doing a 15 day picture challenge. We shall see if this actually happens. ;)

Day One!

Me. Yaaaay. Not. I guess if Lauren can take a picture of herself I can too though ;)

They also said I have to write ten facts about myself. Hehe...

1. That picture up there... That isn't my real smile. My real smile is more like this... :D
2. I'm currently reading Ezekiel, and I think that it's kind of depressing how much the people needed to be punished.
3. I loveeee Chick-fil-A... I could eat there seven times a day (Okay, not really. I couldn't afford it or eat that much. But, I always think of that song...)
4. I really really really want some coffee. Especially from Starbucks.
5. I can never hang onto a pair of stud earrings. I always lose a back or the front and then can't wear them at all.
6. I always have really weird or amazing dreams then can't remember them But when I dream something sad or scary, I always remember it. WHY?!?!? -_-
7. I loooveee colors! Like, especially the bright kind! Rainbows... ROYGBIV! (Did anyone else learn that?!) Okay, but really. I like pink, orange, yellow, green, purple, white, black, blue... Pretty much everything but red and brown :)
8. Mechanical pencils make me happy. So do highlighters... especially neon ones.
9. My favorite musician fell off his skateboard and hurt his head :'( (More to come on that later... I think one day I have to make a post about him for this challenge thing)
10. Finally, I'm super blessed with some amazing friends! You know who you are. But, you always make me laugh and smile. They all make my life so happy :)

New Fruit, Faith, and Pirates!

Well! Chances are you think I've forgotten about my poor little blog. But, NO! I have not abandoned it. I simply haven't had time to write. I've been writing alright, just not on here. Who would have guessed that they actually make you WRITE in English class? Hah. ;) Seriously, though. I'm writing this post especially for a certain friend who asked me to. And I have a pretty good idea why she has blogs on her mind!

I really don't have an exact purpose for this... I guess I will just share some thoughts. :)

On a side note...

Okay, Haley, can you search on Google and find a picture of my dog? Nope. You can't. Does that mean he doesn't exist? No way! He exists for sure! Similarly, you cannot search Google and find a picture of a Monade (the fruit used to make lemonade!). So, there is no saying my fruit doesn't exist. Google isn't all-knowing. Haha! Told you I'd talk about it! :)

The other day I read this verse.

Isaiah 7:9b, "If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all."

I had never really thought about that. I've had the mentality that it was important to stand firm in my faith in Christ, but I never thought about how it is impossible to stand AT ALL apart from my faith in Him. On my own I'm just a weak, useless, confused teenager. Christ is the reason my life is in order and that I can stand. It is SO important for me to stand firm in my faith. Standing firm in my faith is the only way I can stand firm in the other areas of my life!

Well, those are the thoughts bouncing around in that space on the top of my head. ;)

A Post! Finally...

Hey hey hey! :D

Yes... I have become lax in writing posts. However, I DO have a "good" reason. School... Fun-ness, right? ;) Pre-calculus, chemistry, Charles Dickens, and the Bill of Rights have been filling my spare hours.

So, here are some more verses that I've been focusing on lately :)

Proverbs 24:20, "If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength."

This verse really made me stop and think. If when hard times come our way, we falter in our faith in God, what does that say about us? It's easy to be a "strong Christian" when life is great. But, the true test of strength is hard times.I know that hard times have hit me suddenly, and at times I've faltered. However, over the past few years God has been working in my life to help me not falter. Yes, when hard times come I am not always totally happy and joyful, but I know that God is working things out. :) I am not worried. Everything will be okay because I know that the Awesome Creator who holds my heart is not about to let go of me.

Psalm 147:3, "He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds."

What really stuck out to me here was the word "heals." If something heals, it is totally better. People say that some scars are always on your heart, even when they are healed. However, I believe that God has the power to remove even the deepest scars. :)

So, these are my thoughts :)

Writing Verses

Ahhh, I haven't written in so long!

Well. Hello. :)

I don't really have anything super enlightening to share at the moment... but I wanted to share something I've started doing.

Most every morning (or evening, if I have to go somewhere) I read my Bible. I used to just read, and then go about my day. However, I've started a journal now. After I pray, write prayer requests, and read, I write down a Bible verse that really stuck out to me that day. I am absolutely LOVING that! :D It's kind of cool to be able to look back at a list of verses that helped me out. So... I thought I'd share some of the verses I've written so far with you guys. :)

Psalm 108:12, "Give us aid against the enemy, for the help of man is worthless."

I tend to rely on people, so that was a good reminder that man's aid really is worthless. I need to rely totally on God.

1 Chronicles 23:30, "They were also to stand every morning to thank and praise the Lord. They were to do the same in the evening."

Such a good reminder to thank and praise God all the time. :)

Psalm 139:23, "Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts."

I want my life to be like an open book to God, my Father.

And here's the last one for now...

1 Chronicles 29:14b, "Everything comes from you, and we have given you only what comes from your hand."

Have you ever stopped to think that everything you have is God's? Not just some stuff. E.V.E.R.Y.T.H.I.N.G.

Well... this is what God's been teaching me theses days... :)

Promises

Promises.

Have you made promises? Have people made promises to you? I know I've made some promises. I haven't always kept my promises. I've forgotten, or sometimes simply ignored the promise. At the same time, people have broken their promises to me. It's a pretty awful feeling when someone you trust breaks a promise you were counting on. I've been reading through the Bible and I've come across some really good verses about promises. :)

"It is a trap to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider one’s vows." - Proverbs 20:25

If you make a promise, you shouldn't just do it on a whim. Think about it. Can you really keep that promise? Of course anything is possible with God, but you shouldn't make promises that you can't keep.

"When you make a vow to God, do not delay to fulfill it. He has no pleasure in fools; fulfill your vow. It is better not to make a vow than to make one and not fulfill it." - Ecclesiastes 5:4-5

When you make a promise to God, you shouldn't be slow about carrying out the promise. And, as this verse says, you shouldn't make the promise if you can't keep it. Even though this verse is talking about promises to God, the same can be applied to people. If you promise someone something you should carry out the promise soon as you can, and if you don't know for sure that you can keep the promise you shouldn't make it to start with.

All this said, you should be really careful about what you promise. After all, we're human and we are more than likely going to break more than one promise sometime during our life. However, there is One who we can always count on to keep His promises. He will never fail to carry out what He promises. That is Jesus Christ. There are some AWESOME promises that He's made to us. :) One of my favorite is the following.

 “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” - Hebrews 13:5b

People might make promises. They might not keep them. But our awesome God will ALWAYS keep his promises. You can count on Him! :)
